Bernie Jenkins

Training Jiu Jitsu since 1988, primarily trained by Coach John Donehue, Bernie has trained with notable Jiu Jitsu personalities including John Will and Peter DeBeen. He was introduced to Jiu Jitsu by John Will when he and DeBeen were making their first trips to Brazil and the USA in the late 80's and early 90's. Bernie has trained and taught at early Will-Machado schools. Bernie moved on to train with Donehue under Extreme and Nova Uniao. He has post graduate qualifications in education and training and extensive experience in teaching Jiu Jitsu as well as notoriety as a senior police Defensive Tactics Instructor. Bernie has been an active competitor in Jiu Jitsu and Submission events.

Being a believer in the ideal that "nothing that is worth achieving is easy", Bernie's accomplishment in martial arts that he takes the most pride in has been being awarded his Black Belt in BJJ by Coach Donehue.

Training martial arts for over 25 years. At the age of 8 years Brett began training in Kyokushin Karate. He later trained with Paul and Ronan Mitchell (Ronan Mitchell was world Shukokai Karate Champion).
Brett was awarded 1st Dan Black Belt in 1991 at age 16. In 1991 Brett went to Kobe in Japan training under Sensei Tani (9th Dan World Chief Instructor to Shukukai). He also competed in Japan V Australia tournament and came 3rd. He did the three year Uchi Deschi course (advanced instructor training) under Sensei Paul Mitchell 7th Dan. He was awarded his 2nd Dan Black Belt in 2003 at age 28. He was awarded his 3rd Dan in 2005 at age 30. In 2005 he travelled overseas where he trained with Sensei Beardsley 6th Dan, in England, Sensei Wolfgang 4th Dan in Germany Sensei Yamada 9th Dan and Sensei Kawata 9th Dan in Japan. Sensei Kawata awarded him the rank of Jun-Shidoin.In 2004 he took up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training under Coach John Donehue. His training focus then centered on submission and Jiu Jitsu. In 2006 Coach Jenkins invited Brett to take on the role as head of MMA and assistant coach at the Ringwood School.

Training in Combat Sports for over 20 Years. Michael is now the BJJ Coach at Kando Martial Arts in Oakleigh/Hughesdale. Michael has an extensive training history specialising in Self Defence and Defensive Tactics for Military and Law Enforcement applications.
Michael was introduced to Unarmed Combatives as a teenager in the Aust. Army. He was trained as a Commando and later persued martial arts as a personal interest. Training in Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu over a number of years.  He was one of the original team training and competing under Coach John Donehue and has trained extensively with Coach Jenkins in BJJ.
